Peterson Tells Jones He'd Like To Play For Cowboys Someday

Sep 2, 2014 4:14 PM

Adrian Peterson told Jerry Jones that he would like to play for the Dallas Cowboys at the end of his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings, according to an "Outside the Lines" report.

"Well, I understand, Adrian," Jones told Peterson during the call. "I'd like that, too ... Well, I love your story. I love your daddy's story. I've always respected what you've been about. I've always been a fan of yours."

The telephone call is recounted as part of an expansive "Outside the Lines"/ESPN The Magazine profile of Jones by ESPN senior writer Don Van Natta Jr. that was published Thursday.

As for the Peterson call, Van Natta was in Jones' suite at AT&T Stadium when a friend of Jones' handed the phone to him. Peterson had talked first to a Morgan Stanley money manager who had attended George Strait's final concert on June 7 at AT&T Stadium. After the concert, Jones and several others remained in the suite; Peterson talked with the man, who handed the phone to Jones without saying who was on the line.

"Well, we'll see what we can do, if we can make that happen," Jones, who is also the Cowboys' general manager, told Peterson. "Hmm hmm ... I'd like that, too ... Well, we're talking pig Latin here, but let's see if we can do that ... We're talking pig Latin here, but let's see what we can do about that. OK, Adrian, thanks."

Devonte Holloman's Career Likely Over With Neck Injury

Sep 6, 2014 10:40 PM

DeVonte Holloman's career may be over due to a neck injury.

The Dallas Cowboys were hoping Holloman would help replace Sean Lee at linebacker.

The second-year player left Saturday's contest against the Baltimore Ravens after injuring his neck late in the game. A sixth-round pick in 2013, Holloman missed seven games last season with a spinal contusion.

"I don't know anything medical about it," Jason Garrett said. "I don't know that much about it, specific things in regards to that. But it has to do with his neck and he had that injury last year, and dealt with it again this year. And it's a very challenging, difficult thing for a young man who has dreams of being an NFL football player, achieves those dreams. And I told him this morning, I said, 'You're a 10-year player in my mind, you were gonna play for a long, long time.'"

Cowboys' Offensive Line Dominating In Training Camp

Sep 28, 2014 7:34 AM

The Dallas Cowboys' offensive line has looked impressive in training camp.

Tyron Smith recently signed a $110 million deal, while Zack Martin hasn't looked like a rookie.

DeMarco Murray and Lance Dunbar have sometimes not been touched by a defender until they arrive downfield on their carries in practice due to the holes created by the offensive line.
