Cowboys Want Morris Claiborne To Get Stronger In Offseason

Dec 15, 2014 7:41 PM

The Dallas Cowboys hope to get better play at cornerback in 2014 in the form of an improved Morris Claiborne.

“We feel like he is a guy who is very talented and still needs to grow and develop,’’ head coach Jason Garrett said. “He has certainly shown flashes of the player that we drafted with the sixth pick of the draft a couple of years ago. He has a very good feel for covering guys and just plays that position at a high level. We have a lot of confidence in Mo.’’

The Cowboys want Claiborne to get physically stronger.

Cowboys Ask DeMarcus Ware To Accept Pay Cut

May 18, 2014 2:27 AM

The Dallas Cowboys have asked DeMarcus Ware to accept a pay cut from his current salary of $13 million per season.

The sticking point is Ware's salary cap figure, which increases 98 percent from $8.1 million last season to $16 million this year.

If Ware doesn't accept a cut, the Cowboys will likely cut him.

With Ware's flexibility as a 3-4 linebacker or 4-3 defensive end, he would be a highly coveted free agent if he hits the open market.

Cowboys Restructure Three Deals To Shave $16.8M Off Cap

May 18, 2014 1:21 AM

Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys have restructured their deal in order to create $10 million in cap space.

According to a source, the team will convert $12.5 million of Romo's $13.5 million base salary into a signing bonus, dropping his cap figure from $21.773 million to $11.773 million.

Romo signed a six-year extension last year worth $108 million that included $55 million in guaranteed money.

The Cowboys also will restructure the deals of Sean Lee and Orlando Scandrick.

The three restructured deals create $16.8 million in space, leaving the team less than $1 million from being under their $134.55 million cap.
