Patriots Trade Jamie Collins To Browns

Oct 31, 2016 5:55 PM

The New England Patriots have traded linebacker Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns for a draft pick.

The trade is for a third-round compensatory pick if the Browns are awarded one. If the Browns don't get that pick from the league, the trade is for a fourth-round pick, the source said.

"In the end, we did what we thought was best for the football team. There are a lot of things to take into consideration. I'm sure we could bring up a lot of points to talk about, but in the end, that's really the bottom line," Bill Belichick said on sports radio WEEI when asked about the trade.

Collins' four-year rookie contract will expire after the season, and he was at one point asking for what one league source described to ESPN's Adam Schefter as "Von Miller money."

Josh Gordon Exits Rehab Facility, Hopes To Resume NFL Career

Oct 30, 2016 4:32 PM

Josh Gordon has been released from his rehab facility in New Hampshire where he spent the past 30 days.

It is said to be the most intensive treatment that he has gone through, and Gordon is doing "a lot better," one source said.

Gordon is now waiting for the NFL to determine whether he can rejoin the Cleveland Browns. For the time being, Gordon remains suspended, and it's unclear whether the league plans to reinstate him.

The Browns have moved on from Gordon and are looking to trade him.

The Cleveland Browns will not trade Joe Thomas, according to Hue Jackson.

With a week to go before the trade deadline, Thomas has been mentioned often in rumors. It was reported on Monday that the Browns were looking for a second-round pick for the offensive lineman.

"Joe Thomas has a lot to do with what we're trying to accomplish here in the future," Jackson said. "So like you said there's a lot of reports and that's just what they are."

Browns Won't Trade Joe Thomas Before Deadline

Oct 24, 2016 4:11 PM

The Cleveland Browns are insisting they won't trade Joe Thomas before the Nov. 1st deadline.

"We are not going to trade Joe Thomas," Hue Jackson said. "Joe Thomas has a lot to do with what we're trying to accomplish here in the future."

Thomas has played every snap at left tackle for the Browns since he was the third overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.

The Browns are clearly in rebuilding mode but aren't interested in trading Thomas, who they almost dealt last season to the Denver Broncos.

"We. Are not. Going. To trade. Joe. Thomas," said Jackson.

Joe Thomas Won't Ask Browns For Trade

Oct 16, 2016 11:09 AM

Joe Thomas will not ask the Cleveland Browns to trade him before the NFL's Nov. 1st deadline.

Thomas was nearly traded last season to the Denver Broncos at the deadline before the Browns backed out.

Thomas has played for just one winning team since he entered the NFL in 2007 and has been part of numerous coaching and front office changes.

Thomas had no comment on the upcoming trade deadline.

Thomas is now 31 as the Browns are in the midst of a multi-year rebuild.

Art Briles Helping Browns Offense In Guest Role

Oct 13, 2016 6:19 AM

The Cleveland Browns had Art Briles in as a guest on Wednesday to help lend some offensive advice.

Briles was fired by Baylor and Hue Jackson said the Browns aren't passing judgment regarding the sexual assault scandal that led to his ouster.

"He is a tremendous offensive minded football coach. I'm always looking at different ways of doing things and preparing things. What happened at Baylor is at Baylor," Jackson said. "I respect what you are saying and understand that trail, but at the same time, I think everybody deserves an opportunity to kind of do what they do. I respect everybody's feelings and I don't condone anything or not, but that is not for me to judge. The opportunity to pick his brain and to have him be around and talk to him and get to know him outside of all of that in a different capacity was what was important to me."

Terrelle Pryor Thought Patriots Would Sign Him In 2015

Oct 7, 2016 8:21 AM

Terrelle Pryor, who has emerged as the top playmaker for the Cleveland Browns this season, had a workout with the New England Patriots last season.

The quarterback-turned-receiver will face New England with Tom Brady returning this weekend.

I really thought I was going to be a Patriot," Pryor said. "I know Bill Belichick really liked me. I had a great workout for them and everything went really well. I really thought he was going to sign me."

Pryor called his visit last autumn to New England "phenomenal," but felt that Belichick wasn't ready to take the leap "because he just wasn't sure my hamstring was 100 percent healed."

Johnny Manziel Free To Sign With Any NFL Team After Suspension Lifted

Oct 5, 2016 9:28 PM

Johnny Manziel is now free to sign with any NFL team as his four-game suspension has ended.

In June, the NFL suspended Manziel for the first four games of the 2016 season, reportedly for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

The Browns waived Manziel in March, after an alleged domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend.
