Browns, Chargers, Cowboys Could Select QB At Top Of Draft

Jan 31, 2016 1:21 PM

With high picks in the draft, the Cleveland Browns, San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys could each consider investing in a quarterback.

"If you're looking for a quarterback in that top 10, (picks) two, three and four have got to be locked in," Mike Mayock said on Saturday during the NFL Network's broadcast of the Reese's Senior Bowl. "Two with Cleveland, three with San Diego. Philip Rivers is one of my favorites of all-time, but remember they took Rivers when they had (Drew) Brees. And No. 4, Dallas has got to be looking, also."

Carson Wentz, Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch are considered the top quarterbacks.

"I look at Dallas at No. 4 and as much you love Tony Romo, three years in a row he's not been able to play 16 games," Mayock said. "He's 36 years old. At what point -- you're not going to be drafting that high again -- at what point do you pull the trigger? San Diego, same thing. Cleveland's got to get a quarterback. Philadelphia's sitting there at (pick) No. 13 saying 'My guy might not get to me anymore.'"

Police Called To Investigate Johnny Manziel On Incident With Woman

Jan 31, 2016 11:43 AM

Johnny Manziel was involved in an incident that required the police to investigate.

Fort Worth police said in a statement Saturday that officers were called to an apartment building around 2 a.m. about a possible assault. Police talked to a 23-year-old woman, who was not the caller, who said she had been involved in an incident earlier in the evening with her ex-boyfriend in Dallas. A preliminary investigation determined that a possible assault had occurred, though the woman refused to cooperate with officers and there was no evidence of a crime scene.

The woman also told officers she was concerned about her ex-boyfriend's welfare. Police officers attempted to locate him and later determined that he was safe and not in danger.

It was later confirmed Manziel was the man involved.

When asked about the incident by ESPN, the Browns said they would have no comment at this time. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told ESPN the league was aware of the incident and "looking into it.''

Browns Won't Rush Decision On Johnny Manziel

Jan 22, 2016 11:12 AM

The Cleveland Browns won't rush into a decision on the future of Johnny Manziel.

Sashi Brown said the team still does not know where Manziel was the final weekend of the regular season because the Browns had been more focused on hiring a coach and vice president of player personnel.

"We don't know where Johnny was," Brown said. "... I don't know where Johnny was the final game of the season."

According to the USA Today, Manziel was in Las Vegas the night before the Browns' final game of the season.

The team will sit down with Manziel "at the appropriate time" for a conversation, Brown said.

Josh Gordon Applies For Reinstatement To NFL

Jan 21, 2016 12:53 PM

Josh Gordon has officially applied for reinstatement with the NFL.

Gordon was suspended on Feb. 3, 2015 for violating the league's policy on substances of abuse. The terms of the suspension allow the wideout to apply for reinstatement as early as 60 days prior to the one-year anniversary of the date of his ban.

Gordon was given an indefinite suspension after his third volition. He failed a test for alcohol following the 2014 season, after serving a 10-game ban for a DWI arrest.

Gordon has been one of the NFL's most productive wide receivers when on the field.

Hue Jackson: Browns Need 'To Go Get' QB At No. 2

Jan 19, 2016 12:05 AM

Hue Jackson is in favor of the Cleveland Browns targeting a quarterback at the top of the draft.

"If there is a QB at #2 that is a best fit for our team, we need to go get him. It's my opinion we need a QB," said Jackson.

The Browns are unlikely to keep Johnny Manziel.

Unless the Tennessee Titans trade down, the Browns will have any quarterback in the draft they have at the top of their board.

Cal's Jared Goff, North Dakota State's Carson Wentz and Paxton Lynch of Memphis are atop most team's boards at quarterback.

Browns Likely To Move On From Johnny Manziel

Jan 13, 2016 1:26 PM

The tenure of Johnny Manziel with the Cleveland Browns will likely come to an end with the hiring of Hue Jackson.

Each of Manziel's first two seasons with the Browns ended controversially with him entering rehab last year and then having a domestic incident with his girlfriend and an unexcused trip to Las Vegas at the end of the season, amongst other issues.

Manziel has been inconsistent on the field.

LeBron James' Marketing Firm Drops Johnny Manziel

Jan 6, 2016 7:18 PM

LeBron James' LRMR marketing agency has ended its "formal business relationship" with Johnny Manziel.

“I will continue to support and advise him as a friend,” Maverick Carter said. “However, because Johnny needs to focus on personal growth, the next phase of his career and because LRMR continues to expand beyond marketing, we made the mutual decision that it was best to terminate our business relationship.”

Manziel had a domestic dispute this season that required police attention, while he also lied to Mike Pettine about his bye week activities and was in Las Vegas the night before the Cleveland Browns' season finale.

“Johnny will figure it out at some point, we all hope,” James told reporters Wednesday.
