The Cleveland Browns will start Josh McCown in Week 3 despite a strong outing by Johnny Manziel in Week 2.

McCown suffered a concussion in Week 1, leading the Browns to insert Manziel.

"Obviously I'm not going to sit here and say that I love the decision," Manziel said Wednesday, via Cleveland.com. "But I respect Coach Pett, and that's the guy that makes the calls for this team."

Joe Banner is believed to have called Jimmy Haslam "a moron" in a published Tweet intended to be for a direct message.

Banner was CEO of the Cleveland Browns before he was fired by Haslam in 2014.

“True, but he is a moron on his own. He has many advisors, but Alec is his top advisor by a lot. Don’t agree with the no advisors outside…”

Someone “close” to Banner immediately went into damage control mode and apparently expects people to believe Banner was actually referring to the team’s analytics group.

Banner went back to Twitter later Monday morning to claim he was “absolutely” not talking about Haslam and asking followers to “stop trying to create something where there is nothing.” 

Josh McCown suffered a concussion late in the first quarter of the Cleveland Browns' loss to the New York Jets, leaving Johnny Manziel to finish the game.

Manziel committed three turnovers in the second half. Manziel finished the game going 13-for-24 for 182 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

"I think that's a tough spot given our practice rules and how little work that No. 2s actually get (in practice)," Mike Pettine said. "I thought he did some good things."

The Cleveland Browns have waived Terrelle Pryor.

Pryor initially made the Browns' roster as a wide receiver.

Pryor is attempting to make the transition from quarterback to wide receiver.

Pryor's hamstring issue kept him out of the team's first three preseason games. He played around 15 snaps in the preseason finale, lining up as wide receiver, quarterback and punt protector.

Johnny Manziel has tendinitis in his throwing elbow, which was a condition at least one team identified before the 2014 NFL Draft.

When asked recently whether the Cleveland Browns knew about the elbow before the draft, Mike Pettine said, "I am sure there was something in the medical reports about it, but it had been managed. I think it just got to the point where it flared up."

Manziel will miss his second straight preseason game Thursday at Chicago while managing elbow soreness that Pettine says dates back to high school.
