Cowboys Not Interested In Trading For Johnny Manziel

Apr 30, 2015 1:44 PM

The Dallas Cowboys are not interested in trading for Johnny Manziel if the Cleveland Browns make him available.

The Cowboys were said to be interested in Manziel during last year's draft.

Manziel could be made expendable if the Browns trade for Sam Bradford.

ESPN Has Conflicting Reports On Browns-Titans Trade Talks

Apr 29, 2015 10:23 PM

There have been conflicting ESPN reports about whether the Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans have held discussions on the second overall pick.

Pat McManamon has reported that the Browns and Titans have held discussions in which Cleveland sends the 12th and 19th picks for the second pick.

A source with the Titans told ESPN's Paul Kuharsky that the Browns had not made an offer for the No. 2 overall pick, and another source close to the Browns said there have been no substantive talks with the Titans and that these discussions commonly take place as the draft approaches.

The Browns would take Marcus Mariota if they acquire the pick from the Titans.

Cleveland selected Johnny Manziel in the first round last year, but they appear willing to concede he is not the solution at quarterback for the franchise.

Sam Bradford Believes Eagles Could Trade Him At Draft

Apr 25, 2015 8:29 PM

Sam Bradford believes there's a chance he could be traded at the NFL Draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles acquired Bradford this offseason from the St. Louis Rams, but the team remains connected to a deal for Marcus Mariota.

"Bradford doesn't know where he's going to be," said Jason Cole of Bleacher Report. "Yes, he believes the Eagles are going to keep him at this point in time, trust them, but only so far because the [2015 NFL Draft] has not played out. So he believes there is still a possibility that he could be traded somewhere else. And if that's the case, he wants to wait to see whether that's a team he ultimately wants to stay with long-term."

Bradford and the Eagles have yet to discuss an extension.

One trade scenario that has been floated around the league is a three-team deal in which Bradford goes to the Cleveland Browns for the 19th overall pick and then flip that selection, along with No. 20, Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks to the Tennessee Titans for the second pick.

Pettine: Ridiculous To Think Browns Have Moved On From Manziel

Apr 21, 2015 8:45 PM

Mike Pettine said on Tuesday that reports of the Cleveland Browns having "90 percent moved on" from Johnny Manziel are "ridiculous."

Chris Mortensen recently released that report on Manziel.

"I filed that one in the ridiculous category when it was brought to my attention," said Pettine.

"I use that number 90 percent, too, about the accuracy of reports that are out there, being 90 percent inaccurate," Pettine said. "I don't know where (Mortensen) would have gotten that from. (Manziel is) very much in our plans, and as we said, his career with us just hit the pause button. We've said this before, he's got to get himself right as a person first before we worry about Johnny the football player."

Johnny Manziel Apologizes To Browns, Fans

Apr 17, 2015 10:25 PM

Johnny Manziel issued a statement Friday in which he apologized to the Cleveland Browns' organization and fans for letting them down.

Manziel spent 10 weeks at a rehab facility.

"I would like to thank my family, friends, the Browns organization, my teammates, and Browns fans everywhere, for your patience, understanding, and support during my stay at Caron," Manziel said. "The doctors and staff have been amazing and what I've learned in the last couple of months has been tremendous. I owe private apologies to a lot of people that I disappointed but a very public one to the Browns organization and the fans that I let down.

"I take full responsibility for my actions and it's my intention to work very hard to regain everyone's trust and respect. I understand that will take time and will only happen through what I do and not what I say. I also understand there's a lot of curiosity about this but anyone who has a friend or family-member that's been through things like this knows it's an ongoing process. I'm going to continue to ask folks to try to respect my privacy as I determine to what degree I am comfortable talking about a subject which I consider very personal. Most of you have been considerate about that and I thank you for it.

"I look forward to seeing my teammates next week and focusing on football and my desire to be the best possible player, teammate, and man that I can be."

Browns Unveil New Uniforms, Hope To Become Oregon Of The NFL

Apr 15, 2015 1:34 PM

The Cleveland Browns unveiled their new uniforms on Tuesday, which include nine combinations.

The unveiling is a culmination of a two-year project with Nike designed to honor the city of Cleveland.

The jerseys say "CLEVELAND" in bold, block lettering across the front, a first for the 69-year-old franchise. The Browns will be the only team in the league to display these three features: the city's name across the front, cross-stitching in the jersey and the team's nickname on the pant leg.

"We could be like Oregon of the NFL," team president Alec Scheiner said of the flexibility to wear different versions of orange, brown and white.

Sam Bradford Has No Interest In Extension If Traded To Browns

Apr 14, 2015 11:15 AM

Sam Bradford has no interest in signing an extension with the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns have been linked to Bradford while the Philadelphia Eagles could remain interested in trading up for Marcus Mariota.

"Bradford's agent (Tom Condon) has told Cleveland he won't even listen on a contract extension,'' a source said. "He won't even listen, period. And I don't think Cleveland will make a deal without the extension.''

Bradford is in the final year of his rookie contract and will earn $12.9 million this season.

The Eagles could get Bradford signed to a long-term deal.

"I'm not sure a deal gets done,'' the source said. "But (Condon) will at least listen to the Eagles.''

Johnny Manziel Released From Rehab Facility

Apr 13, 2015 12:28 PM

Johnny Manziel has been released from a rehab facility.

The Browns expect Manziel to attend offseason workouts starting April 20, though they could see him earlier than that.

Manziel checked into the facility on Jan. 28 in an effort to "be a better family member, friend and teammate," family attorney Brad Beckworth said in a statement issued to ESPN on Feb. 3.

The Browns will work Manziel back into the quarterback room as part of a fresh start with a new offensive staff headed by coordinator John DeFilippo and quarterbacks coach Kevin O'Connell, who trained Manziel before the 2014 draft.

Browns Have Almost Entirely Moved On From Johnny Manziel

Apr 3, 2015 10:50 AM

Johnny Manziel struggled both on and off the field during his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns and the franchise appear willing to accept that he's unlikely to be their quarterback of the future.

"I think about 90 percent [the Browns] have moved on [from Manziel] in their own minds except that they really don't know who they're going to get when Johnny leaves rehab, which has been an extended stay -- a two-month stay," ESPN's Chris Mortensen said Tuesday during an appearance on Mike & Mike, via NJ.com. "He should be getting out in the first week of April if they're satisfied that he's ready to go out and get into society and whatever deep-rooted problems that he had has been addressed. Okay, now he's part of your depth chart. You have Josh McCown."

McCown could be the Browns' transitional quarterback, but they could also target Sam Bradford.

"I think the Browns are fully prepared to start McCown this year, but they will continue to look for chances to upgrade the position," Mary Kay Cabot wrote over the weekend. "I think they'll try to trade up to draft Marcus Mariota, and I also think they could make another run at Sam Bradford on draft day."
