Adam Jones To Appeal $35,000 Fine For Cooper Hit

Sep 16, 2015 1:50 PM

Adam Jones has received a $35,000 fine from the NFL for slamming Amari Cooper's head into his helmet in Week 1.

Jones said he will appeal the fine, given for hitting a defenseless player.

"It's way too much," Jones said Wednesday, adding, "$35,000 is a lot of money for a guy out playing football. But it is what it is.

"I'll appeal and if it gets appealed, hey [good]. If it doesn't, I guess I donated to somebody's college fund this year."

Sep 14, 2015 12:34 PM

Adam Jones will likely be fined for slamming the head of Amari Cooper into his helmet, but won't receive a suspension.

Asked if he anticipated a fine or suspension, he simply replied: "No."

Officials didn't see the incident during the game.

"Whatever you saw happen, that's what happened," Jones said. "I'm just here to play football. I don't back down from anybody and I'm not out here trying to start anything. I'm just out here playing football."

"I mean, it's football," Cooper said. "It's a physical game, so you kind of expect it."
