Alshon Jeffery Nearly Certain To Play 2016 Under Franchise Tag

Jun 1, 2016 1:32 PM

Alshon Jeffery signed his $14.6 million franchise tag tender with the Chicago Bears on March 8th.

Jeffery has stayed away from the Bears during the voluntary portion of the offseason program and has been working out in Miami.

Both sides plan for Jeffery to be at the mandatory minicamp in mid-June and at training camp in late July.

The Bears almost certainly will not agree upon a long-term deal with Jeffery before the July 15th deadline.

Bears To Use 'Hot Hand' Strategy At Running Back

May 22, 2016 4:15 PM

The Chicago Bears plan on rotating their running backs to compensate for the loss of Matt Forte.

Jeremy Langford showed promise as a rookie but he only averaged 1.13 yards after contact last season. Ka'Deem Carey was used as a power back and Jacquizz Rodgers is a scat back.

"Maybe not one can do all that Matt brought to the table," running backs coach Stan Drayton said, via the Chicago Tribune. "But they all bring a strength that can probably add up to what he brought. To say you're going to replace Matt Forte -- it's going to take years, right?"

John Fox has always liked a running back by committee approach.

"Who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are," Fox said. "Then situationally, it can be...whoever has a hot hand."
