Matt Forte On Free Agency: All I Can Do Is Play Football

Aug 18, 2015 11:25 AM

Matt Forte will become a free agent at the end of the season and was asked how playing in a contract year impacts his approach.

Forte has been one of the Chicago Bears' most productive offensive players throughout his career.

"Nobody wants to play on a one-year deal, especially the uncertainty of how football is with how it goes," said Forte. "You just figure like a guy who's been there since Day 1, continues to put in hard work and has produced, you figure that that guy should be rewarded. But in this business that doesn't always happen. All I can do is talk to them about it and they can say yes or no. They said we're not talking about that type of stuff right now, so all I can do is play football. I've come to the realization that every run or catch that I may have might be my last in a Bears uniform, so if they don't want to re-sign me, I'll have to play somewhere else.

Kevin White Could Miss Entire Season With Stress Fracture In Shin

Aug 16, 2015 5:08 PM

Kevin White could miss the entire 2015 season due to injury. White will have surgery and begin the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

White told reporters the shin injury wasn’t a stress fracture -- he was “adamant” about this, according to the Chicago Tribune -- and “the game plan for me is to play as soon as possible,” he said, according to the Tribune. A Sun-Times reporter tweeted that White said, “If it was up to me, I would have been on the field.”

Ryan Pace called a morning press conference on Saturday to reveal White is will be having surgery on a stress fracture in his left shin and is out for at least the first six weeks of the season, maybe until Week 11.

The Bears had been misleading the media on the injury throughout training camp and White lied on Friday.
