Feb 26, 2015 11:21 AM

The Buffalo Bills and Josh McCown are in contract talks.

The negotiations began after the 35-year-old spent the previous two days visiting the Cleveland Browns.

McCown has also visited the Chicago Bears and New York Jets.

Kyle Orton finished the 2014 season as the Bills' starting quarterback, but he's decided to retire.

EJ Manuel is the only experienced quarterback on the Bills' roster.

Bears Noncommittal On Jay Cutler As Starting QB

Feb 18, 2015 3:30 PM

John Fox and Ryan Pace are noncommittal on whether Jay Cutler will begin 2015 as the Chicago Bears' starting quarterback.

Fox said he met recently with Cutler but has not decided about the quarterback's future.

"We're not up against a deadline," Fox said. "My experience has always been that you need to gather the information, and in turn, you usually make better decisions. We're in that process, and we'll keep you posted."

One component of the evaluation process is simply getting to know Cutler, Fox said.

"Well, I think just getting to know him [is important]," Fox said. "You know, everybody's got perceptions. But I think that getting to know the guy, this is a relationship business, and that takes time. So I don't want to stand up here and give you a final evaluation when I'm maybe a quarter through the test."

49ers Offered Adam Gase Head Coach Job If He Hired Tomsula As DC

Feb 16, 2015 9:17 PM

The San Francisco 49ers were interested in hiring Adam Gase as head coach, but they made naming Jim Tomsula defensive coordinator a condition of his potential employment.

Gase refused the proposition and the 49ers hired Tomsula as head coach.

The 49ers then offered Gase the job of offensive coordinator, but he instead took the same job with the Chicago Bears under John Fox.

Albert Breer of NFL.com reports Gase offered to keep Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator or to hire Vance Joseph from the Cincinnati Bengals.
