Billboard Calls For Changes In Chicago
A billboard in the Chicago area is urging the Bears to fire coach Lovie Smith and general manager Jerry Angelo.
The sign, which was paid for by a group called Bears Fans United, urges the McCaskey family to fire all of them after the season.
The Bears are 5-9 with two games left and have been out of the playoff race for quite some time.
The billboard cost $3,000.
Shanahan 'Extremely Interested' In Coaching Bears
A source told ESPN.com that Mike Shanahan would be "extremely interested" in coaching the Bears if the job became available.
Shanahan is a native of Chicago and the Bears have yet to give coach Lovie Smith a vote of confidence in the wake of their disappointing season.
"The job is really attractive to Mike," a friend of Shanahan said. "It's home [with relatives of his, including his dad, in the Chicago area, and wife Peggy's family still in the Bloomington area]. It's a great challenge because that roster needs to be made over, and the one guy there to build the team around is the one guy he has already built a team around and with whom he has a tremendous comfort level, Jay Cutler."
Shanahan has been linked to the Redskins as well.
Lovie Smith Isn't Worried About Future
Bears coach Lovie Smith isn't worried about his future with the organization.
Chicago is 5-9 and long out of the playoff race in the NFC.
Smith said the poor performance "is on all of us" and that he's focusing on the team's upcoming game against the Vikings.
The Bears have lost eight of their last 10 games.
Angelo Leaves Lovie On Hot Seat
Bears' GM Jerry Angelo addressed the media for the first time in weeks and wasn't too complimentary of his team.
"I'm not going to talk about anything prematurely," Angelo said. "It makes no sense to do that, we've never done it in the past, we're not going to do it (regardless) of how the season went."
It's expected offensive coordinator Ron Turner and quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton are in danger, but so is Lovie Smith.
"I want to talk to Lovie about a lot of things," Angelo said. "I'm sure that's going to come up and then we'll see. We could get a real laundry list of things that didn't go quite the way we wanted them."
With two games left to play, there is still a chance for the Bears to set a different tone for themselves heading into the offseason.
"I'm evaluating myself too," Angelo said. "But I do know this: We all share in to what happened this year. I'm not going to sit here and put blame on any one thing. (We will) talk to ownership as well as the coaches, our personnel people, it will be an organizational decision on what we do going forward on everything. ... There's really nothing I can say any more than that because we haven't made any definitive evaluations on anything right now.
"I have my thoughts. I feel very good about going into the offseason, but I want to see these next (two) games and see how we continue to develop."
Bears Adewale Ogunleye Out For Season
Bears defensive end Adewale Ogunleye will miss the season's final two weeks with a fractured left tibula.
The injury occurred in the third quarter of Chicago's 31-7 loss to Baltimore, and such an injury typically takes six weeks to heal.
Ogunleye is unlikely to need any type of surgery.
Hester Unlikely To Face Ravens
Bears wide receiver Devin Hester is unlikely to play against the Ravens on Sunday because of a left calf injury.
Hester was injured against St. Louis two weeks ago.
He has 54 catches for 682 yards and three touchdowns this season.
Ravens-Bears Game Delayed By Snow
Kickoff of Sunday's game between the Ravens and Bears in Baltimore has been moved back to 4:15 p.m. because of an expected snowstorm.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in Baltimore, predicting snow accumulations of 10 to 20 inches.
The storm is expected to begin Friday night and continue through Sunday morning.
The game was originally scheduled for 1 p.m.
