Matt Cassel has been traded to the Dallas Cowboys by the Buffalo Bills for a 2017 fifth round pick. The Bills also sent a 2017 seventh round pick to the Cowboys. 

Cassel signed with the Bills this offseason and was released before the start of the season before he was re-signed. Tyrod Taylor won the quarterback job with the Bills.

The Cowboys have placed Tony Romo on injured reserve and Brandon Weeden will take over starting duties.

The Buffalo Bills have agreed upon a six-year, $108 million extension with Marcel Dareus.

Dareus, the third overall pick by the Bills in 2011 out of Alabama, is one of the NFL's best defensive tackles.

Dareus is under suspension for the first game of the 2015 season due to a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

The Buffalo Bills have re-signed Matt Cassel three days following his release.

Cassel presumably took a pay cut after he lost the starting quarterback job to Tyrod Taylor.

Cassel will be the Bills' backup quarterback behind Taylor and ahead of EJ Manuel.

The Buffalo Bills are concerned LeSean McCoy may not be ready to play in Week 1 due to his left hamstring injury.

McCoy suffered the injury in practice on Aug. 18.

McCoy's MRI showed, what was described internally as, a "small tear," adding: "They say it tore in a spot where it couldn't have been any better for us. It tore in a spot that is kind of high up, surrounded by stronger muscles in the glutes and things like that."

McCoy is not at full speed in practice but is doing rehab work including light footwork, agility and cardio conditioning, but there is concern he won't be in great "football shape."

Fred Jackson has traveled to meet with the Seattle Seahawks following his release by the Buffalo Bills.

Jackson previously shared a backfield with Marshawn Lynch. Jackson and Lynch have been close friends since 2007, when both broke into the NFL with the Bills.

Jackson, 34, was the NFL's oldest running back last season.

Tyrod Taylor turned down more money from the Denver Broncos in order to sign with the Buffalo Bills because he believed he had a chance to win their starting quarterback job.

Taylor's cap number this season is a mere $833,333, but he can earn more through various incentives built into his deal. 

Taylor can earn an extra $3 million if he continues this season as the Bills' starting quarterback.
