Eagles Initially Sought Draft Picks From Bills For LeSean McCoy

Apr 16, 2015 12:39 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles initially sought draft picks from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for LeSean McCoy and not Kiki Alonso.

The Bills were already without their first round pick due to the Sammy Watkins trade.

Buffalo general manager Doug Whaley responded, "Just do me a favor and look at our roster."

The trade reportedly came together in less than 30 minutes once the Eagles countered with Alonso's name.

LeSean McCoy Believes Chip Kelly Doesn't Like Or Respect Stars

Apr 7, 2015 8:27 PM

LeSean McCoy and Chip Kelly still haven't spoken since the Philadelphia Eagles' dealt the running back to the Buffalo Bills.

McCoy said he heard Kelly say to reporters that money was the primary factor. He said he heard Jeffrey Lurie say that Kelly thought his shifty running style wasn't ideally suited to his offense.

McCoy has his own theory.

"I don't think he likes or respects the stars. I'm being honest," McCoy said on Monday. "I think he likes the fact that it's 'Chip Kelly and the Eagles.' "

Kelly has traded away McCoy and Nick Foles, let Jeremy Maclin leave in free agency and released DeSean Jackson.

"It was 'DeSean Jackson - a high-flying, take-off-the-top-of-the-defense receiver.' Or 'The quick, elusive LeSean McCoy,' " McCoy said. "I don't think [Kelly] likes that."

McCoy said he has no animosity toward Kelly and that he intends to call his former coach soon.

"Now you got DeMarco (Marco). I think he's a good player," McCoy said. "But then you got [quarterback Sam] Bradford. He's in and out banged up. The main wide receiver is [Riley] Cooper. The tight end is [Brent] Celek. . . . [Kelly] likes it like that. The tension - the this or that. He doesn't like that. He don't like the way you dress.

"He's not the bad dude everybody makes him out to be. He's just different. But I don't really have any hate for him. I really don't. In the beginning I did, but I don't. If I see him I'll speak to him, respectfully - 'How are you doing, coach? Good luck.'"

Sammy Watkins Underwent Surgery Near Hip

Apr 4, 2015 6:04 PM

Sammy Watkins has undergone surgery in an area near his hip.

Watkins had the procedure done sometime before the Super Bowl for the injury that was suffered in a Week 13 win over the Cleveland Browns, according to sources.

It's unclear if the procedure will affect Watkins' availability for voluntary offseason workouts, which begin April 6.

Watkins led the Buffalo Bills in targets (128), yards (982) and receiving touchdowns (six).

Bills Won't Rule Out Selecting Quarterback In Draft

Apr 2, 2015 1:51 PM

The Buffalo Bills aren't ruling out selecting a quarterback in the draft.

The Bills drafted E.J. Manuel in the first round in 2013 and also traded for Matt Cassel this offseason.

"I would say that there is a drop-off (after Winston and Mariota)," Doug Whaley said last week. "I don't think it's as steep as a lot of people are saying. And the way the system is, with the new CBA and everything, and that position being so important, guys are going to get drafted higher. Because you might as well try to hit on a guy, and it's not that big of a financial commitment, as in years past.

"So I think there will be a run on some guys maybe in the second and third round that are a little lower. But, again, I don't think the drop-off is as big as a lot of people are saying."
