NFL 'Not There Yet' On L.A. Proposals

Oct 15, 2014 3:30 PM

An NFL team in Los Angeles remains a far off possibility despite uncertain situations for the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars.

“We’ve been very open that if we had the right opportunity to be back in Los Angeles with the right formula — meaning a stadium — most importantly,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said. “We know there are millions of fans who want a team there. We would love to do that, but it has to be successful.

“We are going to do it right if we are going to do it. There are different proposals out there and different opportunities, but not one that we are focused on and can say that we have the right solution yet. We’re not there.”

Mark Davis, owner of the Raiders, has talked openly about Los Angeles as a possible future home.

The Bills have a stadium lease that runs through 2022, and for the next six years it will cost $400 million to break that lease. But it only costs $28 million to break the least in 2020.

Bills Interested In Trading Up For First Overall Pick

Oct 6, 2014 11:16 AM

The Buffalo Bills are interested in trading up for the first overall pick with the Houston Texans.

"It is unclear who the Bills would want in a trade-up scenario," wrote Pompei. "Some believe they would move up for a quarterback. They also could make good use of an offensive tackle such as Greg Robinson. And it would be something to see them pair Mario Williams with either Jadeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack."

The Texans haven't appeared sold on Blake Bortles or any other prospective quarterbacks at No. 1.

The Bills own the ninth overall pick.

Bills' Relocation Becomes Easier After 2019

Oct 23, 2014 2:21 AM

The price for moving the Buffalo Bills drops to $28.4 million after the 2019 season.

Before then, it would be impractical for the Bills to relocate.

The future of the Bills was in doubt previously, but the passing of Ralph Wilson Jr. further complicates the situation.

The Wilson family will determine the fate of the franchise when selecting a buyer and structuring a purchase agreement.

Aaron Williams Signs $26M New Deal With Bills

Sep 18, 2014 12:39 AM

The Buffalo Bills and Aaron Williams have agreed upon a four-year contract worth $26 million. The deal also has another $1.25 million in incentives.

Williams found a home in 2013 at strong safety after struggling initially in the NFL. Williams was the No. 34 overall pick in 2011.

"Aaron Williams is a versatile player who has grown into a key playmaker for our defense in recent years," general manager Doug Whaley said in a statement. "He had an extremely productive season for our defense in 2013. Aaron is the type of young, core player we targeted early in the process to retain for years to come and this will be our philosophy moving forward."

Bills To Skip Toronto Game In 2014

Apr 17, 2014 3:50 AM

The Buffalo Bills will not play a home game in Toronto this season, postponing a new five-year deal for one season.

The decision comes a little more than a year after the two sides agreed to renew the series for five years through 2017, after the original five-year deal expired.

The Bills have a 1-5 record since the series began in Canada.

Toronto is roughly a two-hour drive from Buffalo and has been seen as an opportunity for the Bills to expand their fanbase.
