2010 NFL Mock Draft, Version 4.0

Sep 24, 2014 6:51 AM

No commentary with the picks on this one because so many of the underclassmen are still up in the air in terms of draft status. With Jake Locker committing to remaining at Washington (good move, he?ll benefit in the long-term), the top end of the draft gets decidedly defensive. This mock has more of a defensive and quickness feel to it. I can see a lot of the RBs and QBs going higher than slotted here, but from what I?m gathering, teams aren?t especially high on either positional grouping right now. Some of that is smokescreening and needing more evaluation, but I?ll be shocked if any QBs other than Clausen or RBs other than Spiller crack the top 20. Once past the 50th pick, pay more attention to draft/player slot than what the team picking might be, because this is prime trade area and I?m going for players in those spots more than the marriage between teams and players. Some fit, some don?t, and if you send me an email castigating for your team?s picks in that range, I?m going to assume you can?t read well... Round 1 1. St. Louis Rams: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska 2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Eric Berry, S, Tennessee 3. Detroit Lions: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma 4. Kansas City Chiefs: Russell Okung, T, Oklahoma State 5. Claussen Leaving Notre Dame For NFL

Sep 30, 2014 7:24 PM

Following the advice of fired Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis, Jimmy Clausen has decided to forgo his senior season and enter this April's draft. "After the season, in talking to my parents and obviously Coach Weis, I just feel it's the right time,'' Clausen told ESPN.com on Monday before a scheduled 2 p.m. ET news conference in South Bend. "Coach Weis told me whether he was going to be here or not be here, it was time for me to go. He thought I've improved so much since I came to Notre Dame. So, I'm taking his advice, and I'm going to head out.''
