Joe Thomas Suffering From Memory Loss

Apr 27, 2017 11:24 AM

Joe Thomas believes he is already suffering from memory loss at the age of 32.

"I definitely expect memory loss," Thomas said on "In Depth With Graham Bensinger." "I'm already seeing memory loss, and maybe that's just because of my old age or maybe it's football, it's hard to tell.

"I mean, there's no double-blind studies when it comes to people's life. It's just a part, I think, of sometimes getting older. And it's hard to tell it's because of football or because you're 32 and you're not 21 anymore and you have a lot of stuff going in your life."

Thomas was asked to describe the type of memory loss.

"Short-term memory loss -- hard times remembering things that have happened recently," he said. "Like, you walk to the grocery store and you're like, 'Huh, I can't remember what I needed to get.'

"Just little stuff like that, and I think if you let it really bug you, I think it can make you depressed and feel sad. Like, 'Wow, I don't have the memory I used to have.' But, you know, I try to be relatively good-natured about it at this point."

Thomas is entering his 11th season with the Browns.

Derek Carr Cleared For Offseason Training Program

Apr 18, 2017 8:00 AM

Derek Carr's surgically repaired right fibula is healed enough that the Oakland Raiders quarterback will be a full participant in the team's offseason training program.

Carr suffered the injury during Week 16 on Christmas Eve while taking a sack.

"I feel great," he said. "I've been running, jumping, throwing, cutting, everything. So I'm ready to rock. I'm ready to do absolutely everything. I did everything my teammates did today. I'll do everything my teammates will do tomorrow.

"I'm truly blessed that it wasn't worse. It could have been a lot worse, and it wasn't, so I'm very thankful for that and just keep praying for the guys who, that day, had the same kind of injury and still going through it."

Andrew Luck Says Shoulder Issues Began In 2015

Apr 18, 2017 8:14 AM

Andrew Luck acknowledged Monday that he originally injured his surgically repaired right shoulder during the 2015 season.

Luck and the Indianapolis Colts decided against surgery at the end of that season because they felt like rehab was the best route to go. The quarterback elected to go under the knife this offseason after he aggravated it last season against the Denver Broncos.

"I certainly felt like it was the right decision, which makes it easier and pulling the trigger on it easier," Luck said. "I felt very, very comfortable with the surgeon and his plan and our rehab plan here.

"This wasn't an off-the-cuff thing. I put a lot of thought, effort and plan in moving forward after the season -- talked to a lot of people and got quality information. Honestly, it wasn't too hard of a decision. It felt right."
